Chairman of the Board

Mr. Yan Moshe acquired Hudson Regional Health in January of 2018 and serves as the Chairman of the Board. He has been an operator of healthcare facilities for more than 20 years.

Hudson Regional Health’s mission is to build a healthier community by providing exceptional care for all Hudson County residents through investment in cutting edge technology, attracting top-tier providers, rebuilding high quality clinical services, and implementing a customer service model that addresses the health needs of all patients and caregivers.

Nizar Kifaieh

Nizar Kifaieh, MD, MBA, CPE, FACEP

President & Chief Executive Officer

Dr. Nizar Kifaieh is the President and Chief Executive Officer for Hudson Regional Health. Dr. Kifaieh joined Hudson Regional Health in February of 2018. A practicing, board-certified Emergency Medicine physician with extensive executive leadership and hospital operational experience. Dr. Kifaieh leads Hudson Regional Health’s “patient-first” philosophy by improving the overall quality of care, patient experience and creating technological and medical advancements to best serve the Hudson County community.

Prior to serving in his current position, Dr. Kifaieh served in multiple hospital executive and leadership positions including the Executive Vice President, System Chief Medical Officer and Chief Clinical Integration Officer for the CarePoint Health System. Prior to that, he served as the President, Chief Medical Officer, and Chief Quality Officer at Christ Hospital after serving as the Chief Medical and Quality Officer at the same hospital for several years. He also served as the Chief Innovation Officer for a healthcare technology company and as a Healthcare consultant.

Dr. Kifaieh received his doctorate in medicine from SUNY Downstate and completed his Emergency Medicine at SUNY Downstate and Kings County Hospital where he was Chief Resident. He also has certification with the American College of Physician Executives as a Certified Physician Executive, CPE and received his Masters of Business Administration at the University of Massachusetts.

Dr. Kifaieh is affiliated with a number of professional organizations including the American Academy of Emergency Medicine and the New York Medical Society and has presented, lectured and published extensively.

John Grywalski

EVP and Special Advisor to the System’s Chairman of the Board and CEO

We are excited to announce that John Grywalski has been promoted to Executive Vice President and Special Advisor to the System’s Chairman of the Board and Chief Executive Officer.

John has been a key member of Hudson Regional Hospital’s leadership team for over twelve years. As a former senior partner at Deloitte & Touche, John has worked with hospitals and healthcare organizations for over forty years in various consulting firms, focusing on complex regulatory, financial, insurance, and business management issues.

John is a certified public accountant (CPA) with a bachelor’s degree from Rutgers University and an MBA from Fairleigh Dickinson University. He is a member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants, where he has received designation of Chartered Global Management Accountant. He is a Fellow of the New Jersey Society of Certified Public Accountants as well as an advanced member of the Healthcare Financial Management Association.

John has previously served on the boards of the New Jersey Hospital Association, QualCare, Inc., and HealthFirst. He has also served as Vice Chairman of the Bayonne Medical Center Board of Directors and as a member of the St. Clare’s Hospital Foundation Board.

John’s expertise and dedication has made him an invaluable asset to our team and his contributions have been vital to our organization’s success.

Harry G. Kapralos

Adam Alonso

Chief Strategy Officer

Adam Alonso is a serial entrepreneur and government relations expert who has founded several companies in various industries over the last 20 years. Alonso founded The Cratos Group in 2009 as a problem-solving consulting firm that specializes in business planning and strategic development, legal, policy, and regulatory support, and political intelligence. The firm has experience in health care, insurance, gaming, real estate projects of all sizes, banking, and regulated utilities.

Alonso serves as the Chief Strategy Officer of Hudson Regional Health, New Jersey’s fast-growing health care network. Alonso is responsible for developing and executing comprehensive strategies that align with the organization’s mission and goals, ensuring sustainable growth and enhanced patient care. As the CSO, Alonso works closely with the executive team to identify new opportunities, optimize operational efficiencies, and foster a culture of continuous improvement and innovation. Providing guidance on public policy, real estate, operations, public relations, marketing, and payer strategies.

In 2017, Alonso served as Political Director for the Murphy/Oliver Gubernatorial Transition in 2017, and subsequently served as Deputy Chief of Staff to Governor Murphy until June 2018. Alonso then departed his government to serve as senior advisor to the NJ Democratic Party and guided it to several historic victories. In addition to his New Jersey government service, Alonso served as New York State Senator Jose Peralta’s chief of staff and chief fundraiser from 2010 to 2012.

Alonso founded Xenia Holdings as a platform to invest in startups and operating businesses in areas where he can provide both capital and strategic growth support. Alonso is the Chair of Hospitality Partners which operates restaurants and bars, provides food and beverage facility management, and curates private and public events.

Alonso graduated with high honors from Drew University in 2006. While at Drew, Alonso served as President of the Student Government, Chair of the Future of Drew Commission, and a Member of the Presidential and Provost Search Committees. Alonso serves on the Board of Trustees of CarePoint Health Inc.

Shamiq Syed

Chief Financial Officer

We are excited to announce that Shamiq Syed has been promoted to Hudson Regional Health’s interim Chief Financial Officer. His extensive background in finance consulting, particularly in turnaround and restructuring, makes him an ideal fit for this role.

Shamiq has held numerous high-level finance positions throughout his career. He previously served as interim CFO for a white-label manufacturing company and established the finance organization for a $3 billion consumer products company. In addition, Shamiq led liquidity management initiatives for a healthcare equipment manufacturer and assisted various companies with significant debt exceeding $500 million through successful restructuring processes.

Most recently, he guided CarePoint Health through a successful Chapter 11 process and played a vital role in Hudson Regional Health’s acquisition of the CarePoint hospitals. His dedication and expertise make him an invaluable asset to our team.

Paige Dworak, FACHE

Ms. Dworak is the System Chief Operating Officer of Hudson Regional Health, northern New Jersey’s largest healthcare system.

Ms. Dworak has experience in for-profit and not-for-profit hospital operations and financial management and has worked in organizations throughout the country. Prior to joining Hudson Regional Health, she served as the President and CEO of CareWell Health Medical Center, a world class community hospital serving Essex County, NJ. In her 20+ year career, she also served in leadership roles in organizations including the Cleveland Clinic, Trinity Health, and The Greater New York Hospital Association. She is highly visible in the healthcare industry, with participation in a wide array of membership organizations, boards, and community services.

Ms. Dworak is board certified in healthcare management as a Fellow of the American College of Healthcare Executives and is a Past President of the NY Chapter. She has served on the Board of numerous community and advocacy boards including: the American Heart Association, New Jersey Hospital Association, The Hospital Alliance of NJ, the Commerce and Industry Association of New Jersey, and more. She is a recipient of numerous awards and recognitions for her service to the poor, vulnerable, and underserved.

Ms. Dworak earned her master’s degree in Business Administration (MBA) at Montclair State University, her Bachelors from William Paterson University, and is Six Sigma Certified.

Hudson Regional Health is pleased to announce the promotion of Paula Lapas to System Vice President of Business Development. In her new role, Paula will lead strategic business development initiatives across our four-hospital system, driving growth, expanding partnerships, and strengthening our presence in the New Jersey healthcare landscape.

Paula brings over a decade of experience in business development and marketing communications, with a proven track record of success at Hudson Regional Hospital. As Director of Business Development, she played a pivotal role in increasing referrals, revenue, and market share through the development of targeted strategies and collaborative partnerships. Her efforts in branding, online outreach, and stakeholder engagement have significantly enhanced the hospital’s visibility and reputation in the community.

Prior to her leadership role, Paula served as a Business Development Specialist, where she supported the hospital’s expansion efforts, including the launch of new programs, services, and outreach events. Her strong foundation in psychology informs her patient-centered approach and ability to connect with diverse audiences.

Paula’s passion for healthcare, commitment to excellence, and strategic mindset will be instrumental as she steps into this system-wide leadership position. We congratulate her on this well-deserved promotion and look forward to her continued impact on the growth and success of Hudson Regional Health.

Chief Hospital Executive

Growing up in the Bronx and then completing his Emergency Medicine training at Jacobi Medical Center, part of the NYC public healthcare system, Dr. Hochberg has long been drawn to the immediacy and urgency of being a voice and advocate for those whose voices have been (and are) marginalized and silenced by society or disease.

Dr. Hochberg brings 15 years of executive leadership experience to Bayonne, having successfully served as Chief Operations and Integration Officer at Saint Peter’s Healthcare System in New Brunswick, NJ, helping the System achieve numerous accolades, awards, and distinctions while growing their operating margin, building a new Emergency Department and multiple outpatient facilities and expanding their primary care, surgery, orthopaedics, oncology and cardiology network; Senior Executive Vice President Chief Clinical Officer at the JPS Health Network, a quaternary care, academic public healthcare system in Fort Worth, leading the network to Leapfrog A, a sizable reduction in emergency department boarding times and length of stay, and installing a predictive analytics platform to identify new clinical pathways and calculate patient risk profiles; and Corporate Associate Chief Medical Officer and Chief Quality Officer for Steward Health Care, a then 40 hospital system across 9 states with a 2,000 physician medical group, overseeing the day to day clinical operations and heading all system wide quality and patient safety governance initiatives.

Dr. Hochberg earned his medical degree from the Jacobs School of Medicine and Biomedical Sciences at SUNY Buffalo, trained in Emergency Medicine at Jacobi/Montefiore in the Bronx, and completed his MBA from the University of Massachusetts and his Master of Liberal Arts (MLA) degree from Johns Hopkins University. Lastly Dr. Hochberg achieved and has an academic appointment as a Full Professor of Emergency Medicine at the Anne Burnett School of Medicine at TCU.

Chief Nursing Officer

Felicia Karsos is the Chief Nursing Officer of Hudson Regional Health. Mrs. Karsos is a well-respected healthcare representative, with strong leadership qualifications honed over years of experience in diverse areas such as patient care, staff development, budget development and execution, and project management.

Felicia Karsos began her career at Saint Michael’s Medical Center as a staff nurse in Telemetry holding various positions as Nurse Manager, Nursing Director, and Chief Nursing Officer. She further expanded her expertise in healthcare administration as she transitioned from Nursing to Hospital operations. Utilizing her robust leadership/managerial, exceptional planning, prioritizing and goal-setting skills she held various positions including Vice President of Operations and Hospital Administration.

Mrs. Karsos received her Bachelor of Science in Nursing from Seton Hall University College of Nursing and Master of Business Administration from Graduate School of Management at Rutgers University. She is a member of the NJ State Nurses Association (NJSNA) and Organization of Nurse Executives. Mrs. Karsos is an active member of her parish participating in the youth group activities and teaching Sunday School for the 4th-grade class at Holy Trinity Greek Orthodox Church.

We are thrilled to announce that Anna Coviello has been appointed as the Chief Nursing Officer and VP of Patient Care Services at Hudson Regional Health – Heights University Hospital.

Anna joined Christ Hospital in 2014 as a new graduate nurse from CarePoint Health School of Nursing, and her dedication and commitment have been evident throughout her career.

Prior to this appointment, Anna served as the Manager of Organizational Education at Christ Hospital, overseeing staff development.

She holds a Master of Science in Nursing from New Jersey City University with a focus on education. With extensive clinical experience in critical care and interventional cardiology/radiology, Anna brings a wealth of knowledge to her leadership role.

Nicole L. Rosso embodies compassion and dependability on a daily basis at Hoboken University Medical Center as Chief Nursing Officer and Vice President of Patient Care Services. Nicole has over 20 years of patient care service with the organization.

Her focus is on quality, efficiency, and safety. She is committed to ensuring the highest level of nurse competency for the organization and enjoys developing and implementing strategies to solve complex patient care problems.

Nicole achieved her Nurse Executive MSN in management and leadership from Chamberlain University, a Bachelor of Science in Nursing from Saint Peters College, an Associate Degree from Saint Peters College, and Nursing Diploma from Christ Hospital School of Nursing. Through active involvement with the American Organization for Nursing Leadership, Nicole has maintained her certification for many years.

Nicole was born and raised in Hoboken, and with pride, she is very active in the community. She was the Honorary Italian Woman of the Year- Hudson County Board of Chosen Freeholders 2016. She has received the Proclamation from The City of Hoboken in 2021 for innovative strides during the pandemic. Nicole was recognized as one of the Top 22 Females to Watch in 2022 in a local business publication. Her continued achievements will assist with nursing excellence to advance the achievement of strategic goals, optimize clinical outcomes, enhance employee engagement, and promote the best patient experiences at Hoboken University Medical Center.
