The primary mission of the Hudson Regional Hospital Pharmacy department is to put the patient first. We do this by providing pharmaceutical care focused on patient safety and disease state management. HRH Pharmacy department is supported by state-of-the-art automated systems including Pyxis, Unit-Dose, Intravenous drug distribution, an automated physician order entry system, medical records, and online drug information resources.
The Hudson Regional Hospital Pharmacy is clinically involved in routine drug monitoring as well as adverse drug-reaction-reporting plus medication intervention to ensure optimal drug safety to our patients. The pharmacists review each order upon a physician’s entry. They diligently check for drug allergies, contraindications, and drug interactions with other medications the patient is currently receiving before they release the medication. Patient safety is our first concern. Many times, a less expensive drug is recommended by our pharmacists. Consideration for patient billing is another concern for us. Our goals and vision for the department include the implementation of bedside barcoding at the point-of-care which prevents medication errors and to provide 24/7 departmental coverage.
