Bio
Shahrokh Ahkami was born July 5, 1939 in Iran. He graduated from Tehran University Medical School in 1964. He completed a rotating Internship at Institute Pasteur, Paris France. This was followed by OB/GYN residency programs in England. In 1969 he immigrated to the United States in 1969 where he completed his OB/GYN residency at Greater Baltimore Hospital and Sinai Hospital both in Baltimore, Maryland, Baltimore. In 1971 he moved to New Jersey and opened his private practice, Ahkami Medical Group in 1972. Dr. Ahkami is board-certified in OB/GYN, is a Fellow of the American College of Surgeons, a Fellow of the American College of Obstetrics and Gynecology and was a Fellow of the International College of Surgeons. As a physician, he is well respected by his peers and patients for his dedication and service to the community as a physician and citizen.
Besides medical article publications, in 1996 he founded Persian Heritage, Inc. and began publishing a quarterly bi-lingual magazine. Since the inception of Persian Heritage, Dr. Ahkami has been invited to speak at a variety of venues throughout the world.
Besides enjoying his family which includes his wife Nahid, three daughters and ten grandchildren he has completed 30 New York City and Boston Marathons. In 2005 he was honored by the New York Road Runners Club for his commitment to the sport.
