Inpatient Care

Specialized Inpatient Care for Children, Adults & Older Adults

Our inpatient behavioral health units provide structured, compassionate psychiatric care in a safe and supportive environment, with treatment tailored to each patient's needs.

Child & Adolescent Unit

Up to age 17

A secure 17-bed unit for children and adolescents up to age 17, focused on behavioral stabilization, emotional development, family involvement, and continuity of care.

Adult Behavioral Health Unit

Ages 18+

A 13-bed unit for adults ages 18+ experiencing acute psychiatric needs, including mood and anxiety disorders, psychotic disorders, crises, and co-occurring mental health and substance use concerns.

Geriatric Behavioral Health Unit

Older Adults

A 17-bed unit for older adults with co-occurring medical and behavioral health needs, integrating psychiatric and medical care with an emphasis on safety, dignity, and individualized support.

Referring a Patient for Inpatient Care?

Outside referrals are accepted through Psychiatric Emergency Services. Patients may also present directly to the Emergency Department for evaluation.

Serving Hudson County since 1987, Giant Steps provides specialized substance use treatment for adolescents and adults through individualized, community-based care. Nationally accredited by The Joint Commission for children and adolescent addictions treatment, the program offers a range of treatment, counseling, and recovery support services.
