Hudson Regional Health today marked the grand opening of Bayonne University Hospital’s newly renovated fourth floor, unveiling brand-new, state-of-the-art patient rooms and nursing stations. Patient rooms have been transformed into spacious, private spaces with personal bathrooms, while the nursing stations have been redesigned to improve communication among patients, their families, and healthcare professionals – all aimed at enhancing the patient experience and quality of care.

“Our new fourth floor at Bayonne University Hospital represents more than just a physical transformation – it reflects our steadfast commitment to providing the highest quality care to the Bayonne community,” said Chairman of the Board Yan Moshe. “Local residents can trust that they will not only receive exceptional care at Bayonne’s only full-service, acute care hospital, but also benefit from a state-of-the-art facility that will enhance the patient experience.”

“When we assumed leadership of Bayonne University Hospital in 2024, we pledged to transform the patient experience and elevate the quality of care available to Bayonne residents,” said CEO and President Dr. Nizar Kifaieh. “The opening of these new patient rooms and nursing stations represents another important milestone in our ongoing commitment to improving the patient experience for our community.”

The new fourth-floor patient rooms and nursing stations were modernized with updated flooring, walls, amenities, advanced technology, and brighter lighting to create a more welcoming and comfortable environment. Nursing stations serve as centralized hubs for patient care and communication, making efficient design and ease of navigation for staff all the more critical.

Also remodeled on the fourth floor are new, modern offices for staff, as well as a new lounge for nurses and healthcare workers.

The fourth-floor renovations are part of the first phase of comprehensive, multi-million dollar infrastructure upgrades at Bayonne University Hospital (BUH). Last month Bayonne officials and hospital leadership cut the ribbon on the revamped lobby with a modern open floor plan and upgraded waiting area for patients, space for a community pharmacy, Starbucks Coffee, a redesigned front desk to greet visitors, and a new entrance area.

Other upgrades currently planned or under construction at BUH include:

  • Renovations to the sleep lab center
  • Addition of three new operating rooms
  • Upgrades to the hospital’s physical therapy spaces
  • Remodeling of the cardiac catheterization lab
  • New physician offices and lounges
  • Facility enhancements to accommodate 15 additional behavioral health beds
  • New remodeled Emergency Department
