Last night, Bayonne University Hospital hosted a send-off celebration and pizza party honoring the Bayonne 12U Little League team, which captured the New Jersey Little League championship on August 3. Bayonne University Hospital team members, joined by Bayonne Mayor Sharon Nadrowski, wished the players, their families, and coaches well during a ceremony in the hospital’s newly renovated lobby.
“Bayonne University Hospital is thrilled to recognize the Bayonne Little League team on their historic New Jersey Little League State Championship!” said Anna Coviello, Chief Nursing Officer at Bayonne University Hospital. “We wish the players, coaches, and families the best of luck as they compete in the Regional Tournament, and we’re proud that the Hudson Regional Health Foundation is able to support their trip with a donation toward travel expenses. On behalf of all of us at the hospital, thank you for making us Bayonne proud!”
“Congratulations to our hometown boys for bringing home the state championship, moving on to the regional tournament, and for making Bayonne so proud,” said Mayor Nadrowski. “Thank you to Bayonne University Hospital for being supportive corporate neighbors as we recognize our local athletes and support their families.”
With the historic state championship in hand, Bayonne Little League advances to the Metro Region Tournament in Bristol, Connecticut, where the team will compete this weekend for a spot in the Little League World Series in Pennsylvania. The Bayonne Little League team has remained undefeated during the district, sectional and state tournaments.
