Dr. Warren Grace Completes Hudson Regional Hospital’s First Intracept Procedure

The Intracept® Procedure – the minimally-invasive procedure clinically proven to relieve chronic low back pain

Dr. Warren Grace, a board-certified interventional pain management specialist, was the first of Hudson Regional Hospital’s physicians to offer and complete the Intracept® Procedure. Hudson Regional Hospital is among the first in Northern New Jersey to offer this innovative approach to provide relief for patients suffering from chronic low back pain.

The Intracept® Procedure is a minimally invasive, outpatient procedure which targets a nerve located in the bones of the spine (vertebrae). During the procedure, Dr. Grace advances a specialized probe into the vertebrae and uses radiofrequency energy (heat) to disable the nerve, rendering it unable to transmit pain signals. Intracept takes approximately 60-90 minutes and is implant-free.

A recent clinical study on the Intracept® Procedure found statistically significant improvements in function and pain levels (1, 2), post-procedure improvements lasting over five years (3), and a significant decrease in the number of patients using opioids or injections long-term (3). Nearly 80% of patients indicated that they would have the procedure again for the same condition (3).
