8:00am-12 midnight

MRI scanners carry significant safety risks for any type of metal. Therefore, all patients must complete an MRI Screening Form before undergoing the MRI exam. In addition, all non-MRI personnel wishing to accompany the patient in the MRI exam room (e.g., parent), or volunteer must complete the MRI Screening Form prior to entering the MRI room. Any MR-incompatible implants will be assessed prior to entering the MRI suite. MRI exams customarily require Pre-certification authorizations from insurance carriers. MRI exams with contrast require the patient to be NPO for 4 hours prior to the start of the exam. MRCP exam requires NPO after midnight of the night before the exam. MRI exams customarily take 20 minutes to an hour.

Scheduling Times:

  • MRI exam appointments are scheduled Monday-Friday, 8am-12 midnight.

When Blood Work is Needed:

  • Blood work is needed for all patients over 60 years old. In addition, please let us know if you are a diabetic, hypertensive or have kidney problems. If you have diabetes, hypertension or have kidney problems, you must have blood work done prior to the exam, particularly a BUN, Creatinine, and GFR. (The technologists need this information to determine if you can have the contrast. If the levels are out of normal range, the kidneys may not filter the contrast.) If you have had blood work within the previous 14 days, you do not need a new test. Just call the doctor for a copy of the results. If not, you will need a prescription for the blood work, and you will either have to come in the day before or the morning of your test. The exam will not be performed without the results.
