Bio

As a Native New Yorker, I care deeply about my patients and my community.
My goal is to improve my patients’ quality of life. Even as a surgeon, I firmly believe the first step is to utilize no operative treatments to the fullest extent possible. Although surgery is a powerful and an excellent treatment modality, in many cases surgery should be the last option.

Dr. Cordiale is a Board-Certified Orthopaedic Spinal Surgeon. He performed his fellowship training in complex spine surgery at the world-renowned Norton Leatherman Spine Center in Louisville, Kentucky.

Dr. Cordiale completed his Orthopaedic training at North Shore / Long Island Jewish Healthcare Systems (Plainview Hospital). He was selected, and served as a chief of his intern class. He also served as a chief resident and scored within the top 94th percentile on his orthopaedic in-service training exams (OITE). Dr. Cordiale was ranked the 11th highest in the country on the written orthopaedic board exam. He graduated in the top 10% of class at New York College of Osteopathic Medicine and scored in the 99th percentile on his medical licensing exam. Concurrently, during his medical school training, Dr. Cordiale also earned two Master’s Degrees: a Master’s in Science of Neuromuscular-skeletal Science, and a Master’s in Science in Clinical Nutrition, in which he graduated with distinction. Additionally, he was 1 of 2 medical students in his class awarded a scholarship as a Pre-Doctoral Fellow in Anatomical Science.

Dr. Cordiale has expertise in spondylolisthesis, which is a form of spinal instability. His research on this topic has been presented at international spinal surgery conferences in Europe (IMAST), North America (NASS) and in the United States (AAOS) and he has co-authored a book chapter on this condition.
Additionally, Dr. Cordiale has donated years of his life servicing the community and academia. He has also volunteered on a local level at Brookhaven National Laboratory on cancer research, in the State University of New York at Stony Brook University Medical Center and has served as an Emergency Medical Technician on Long Island.
