I'm writing to express my gratitude to the entire team at Hudson Regional Hospital for the excellent care I received from November 13 - 18, 2018. My family and I were impressed by the high professionalism and skills demonstrated by doctors and nurses during my stay at HRH.
I want to start with Dr. Michael Omoh who accepted me at the Emergency Department on November 13, 2018, at around noon. Since I did not fully understand the seriousness of my condition, it was Dr. Omoh who convinced me to remain in the hospital. He promptly ordered tests a CT Scan and explained in detail that I was in danger and needed urgent care. He recommended immediate admission to the hospital. I was scheduled for surgery at 7:30 am on 11/14/2018 after I was transferred to the in-patient department.
I'm very grateful to Dr. Michael Omoh for his responsible approach and prompt actions which were essential in this time-sensitive situation. I am also appreciative to nurse Daisy Victor for her kind attention and efforts to help and comfort when I was dizzy, in pain or stressed.
Soon after I was assigned to a room in HRH, I was that that surgery would take place immediately instead of the next morning. As I was informed, later on, I was in a state of full sepsis, and if the doctors did not speed up the surgery, the outcome could have been different. I am extremely grateful for Dr. Yaniv Larish (surgeon), Dr. Leonard Glickman (assistant surgeon) and Dr. Stuart Atkin (anesthesiologist) for the immediate, successful surgery which saved my life. As I understand, the surgery was complicated and required a high level of professionalism and experience to stop the infection, remove the kidney blockage and implement the right treatment.
Furthermore, I was visited early next morning by the entire operating team to check my status and explain the surgery, treatment and recovery steps. Per my experience with other hospitals, this was an exceptional step, and the doctors should be commended for that. It was so reassuring to see them and hear their comments first-hand. I greatly appreciate that.
During the recovery period, I was in the care of nurse Tessie Gornelio and nurse Michelle Patino. This was also an extraordinary experience as I was a witness to their high professionalism, quick reaction, and attention to details. They were also accommodating to my needs and tried to provide comfort while I was linked to several IV lines. They were able to go the extra mile in explaining and obtaining information when I had questions.
As I understand, Tessie has more than 30 years experience, and I was lucky to be in her shift at night. The positivity and kindness of Michelle have been such an essential part of my recovery. I'm very grateful to both Tessie and Michelle for their impressive work.
